This is the shape you already know: the one knife most kitchens actually run on. Onions, herbs, a Sunday roast, whatever's on the board tonight. If you're only going to own one good knife, this is the one to own.

67 layers of Damascus steel around an AUS-10 core, so it holds an edge well past the point a cheaper knife would need replacing. The handle is natural African Mkuruti wood, shaped to sit balanced in the hand rather than just look good in photos.

  • Blade: 20 cm (8 in), 67-layer Damascus steel, AUS-10 core
  • Total length: 34.6 cm, weight 206 g
  • Handle: Natural African Mkuruti Wood
  • Arrives sharp, engraved on the left face of the blade, in a magnetic-closure gift box

Specifications

67-layer Damascus steel, AUS-10 core. Handle in natural African Mkuruti wood. Engraved with a small Asiro mark on the left face of the blade only. Arrives in a magnetic-closure gift box.

Care

Wash by hand and dry it before putting it away. That's the one habit that matters; everything else is normal kitchen sense. A few passes on a honing rod before cooking brings the edge back if it starts to feel less sharp.

Shipping and returns

Free shipping within the Netherlands, dispatched in 1 to 2 business days. You have 14 days to return it; you cover return shipping, and a used knife is refunded minus a deduction for any diminished value.

How it compares

Asiro next to an everyday kitchen knife

What you notice when you cook, next to the stainless knife most kitchens already have.

Feature Asiro Typical kitchen knife
Sharpness A finer angle cuts with less pressure, so tomatoes and herbs slice cleanly instead of crushing.
12° edge on each side
Usually 15° to 20° on each side
Edge retention Harder steel holds its edge longer between sharpenings.
60 ±2 HRC hardness
Around 54 to 57 HRC
Core steel A high-carbon stainless core, made for a fine edge that lasts.
AUS-10, about 1% carbon
Standard stainless such as X50CrMoV15, about 0.5% carbon
Blade Built in layers, with a pattern worth leaving out on display.
67 layers of Damascus steel, hammered finish
A single layer of steel, plain finish
Handle A warm, natural grip, and no two handles share the same grain.
Natural African Mkuruti wood
Usually plastic or composite
Out of the box Ready to give, or to cook with the day it arrives.
Arrives sharp, in a magnetic gift box
Usually standard retail packaging
Everyday care The one habit worth keeping, and it takes seconds.
A quick rinse and dry after cooking
More forgiving of the dishwasher

Asiro figures are manufacturer specifications. Typical values describe common stainless kitchen knives, such as those made from X50CrMoV15 steel, and vary by brand.
